Specifically this includes management of the daily computing activities of the CRC and IASOS including oversight of hardware and network connections, fixing problems and provision of documentation; provision of a help desk during business hours; maintenance and upgrading of technology as required; management of system software and hardware for the University Supercomputer Facility; system management of the departmental Unix servers, PC and Macintosh networks; development of IT strategies for the department; investigate and advise on the application of new technology and computer systems; provide advice to staff on current packages and software systems; provide advice on the management of data sets; liaison with other computer support staff in the University.

Senior Systems Administrator/Programmer

I was responsible for a major diverse network at the largest locally owned ISP business in the state.

As the senior officer in the largest office at Tas Acccess, I was responsible for the overall supervision at the Office. I was the Head of the Technical Division for the company directly responsible for the two system administrator and two network administrator positions. I personally carried out much of the system administration and some network administration on the Unix systems (there are 11 servers running FreeBSD and Solaris), and I developed some ecommerce systems for the world wide web.

I was initially contracted as Helpdesk coordinator. I project managed the NT rollout to Hobart, Sydney and Melbourne.

Responsible for a major diverse network in a Matriculation College.

I was the sole technical staff member until I interviewed and employed two trainees. I was responsible for organizing formal training with TAFE and giving the in-house training. The network consisted of Sun Unix systems and an extensive 300+ windows network with 5 NT servers. I deployed email, majordomo, squid, file sharing, remote access. I put in place methodology for managing 70+ notebook computers running Windows 95.
